Azores Wants New Air Route With OSP Between Terceira and Madeira Islands
The Regional Government of the Azores proposed to the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) the integration of a new Terceira-Madeira-Terceira route, with two weekly frequencies, into the public service obligation contract (OSP), it announced this Friday, the day January 13th, the Azorean executive.
Following a meeting with the board of directors of ANAC, the regional secretary of Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructure, Berta Cabral, argued that it was “suitable for the public service that is intended to maintain the service actually provided currently and the creation of a route note Terceira-Madeira-Terceira, with two weekly frequencies”.
The “current four routes and respective frequencies would be maintained, with a total of five routes appearing in the public service obligation contract”, according to Berta Cabral, cited in a press release from the Azorean executive.
The air connections covered by public service obligations are Lisbon-Santa Maria-Lisbon, Lisbon-Pico-Lisbon, Lisbon-Horta-Lisbon and Madeira-Ponta Delgada-Madeira.
According to the statement, ANAC expressed “openness to studying the proposed terms and, given the total availability of the Government of the Azores to support this process, new conversations and joint work were planned for the scenarios presented”.
It should be remembered that ANAC's mission is to regulate and supervise the civil aviation sector and to supervise and regulate the activities carried out in this sector, throughout the national territory.
